Jared Markes is an electrical engineer and technology leader at Devon Energy with experience spanning field automation, emerging technology integration, drone program development, emissions detection, and energy-focused venture capital. He joined Devon in 2018 as an Electrical Engineer within the Field Automation team, where he led the deployment of field camera systems and helped standardize data collection methods to support real-time operational analysis. Jared also led Devon’s research and deployment efforts around emissions detection technology and developed the company’s first UAS drone program, helping expand the use of aerial technology across field operations. He serves as an advising member of Devon’s Emerging Technology team, supporting the evaluation and integration of new technologies that can create operational value. In 2024, Jared joined Devon’s Energy Venture Capital team, where he focuses on identifying companies with solutions that can improve Devon’s operations and may benefit from strategic capital investment. Prior to Devon, he worked internationally and most recently led project deployment efforts for GE Research. Jared earned an Executive MBA in Energy Economics from the University of Oklahoma in 2024 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Outside of work, he enjoys giving back to the community by supporting local school STEM events.
